GENEVA – The Geneva Garden Club will host a spring Garden Walk featuring five gardens following the theme The Geneva Experience.

The walk is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12 and 13. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 the day of the walk and include a garden program boutique at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St.

“Each garden is a Geneva experience,” said garden club member Ruth O’Brien. “What is cool about them is they all truly reflect the personality of the homeowners.”

Gardens featured are wooded, enchanted, creek-side, stately and container.

“The wooded garden has lots of trees. The enchanted garden is very darling and looks like it could be in Cottage Living,” O’Brien said. “The stately, or manor-like, garden has such presence. It just makes you think of beautiful. The creek-side garden has many different levels and planes to it with a variety of living spaces. And the fifth one has an incredible array of container gardens. We have quite an eclectic mix.”

The gathering at the History Center will include refreshments, guest speakers with short presentations and specialty garden items, such as traps for Japanese beetles. Master gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension will be available to answer questions.

Proceeds from the walk and boutique sale go toward the club’s scholarship program for Geneva residents seeking higher education in horticulture.
